Jeane Wilson May 28, 1926 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Jeane Wilson, age 92, of Marlette, MI formerly of Rochester, MI and Lake Orion, MI passed away with family by her side Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, MI. She was born May 28, 1926 in Hazel Park, MI the daughter of Everett and Elverna (Wilkie) Bertelsen. Jeane graduated from Hazel Park High School with the Class of 1944.

She then attended Michigan State University where she met her future husband Jim on a blind date on Halloween. Jeane married Jim Wilson on October 12, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Yale, MI. She later received a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University.

Jeane was a Librarian and Elementary Teacher in Lake Orion, Brown City and Marlette, retiring from Marlette in 1988. After retirement from teaching she owned and operated Thumb Hobbies with her husband. Jeane was an officer in the Marlette Historical Society and was very involved with the restoration of the Marlette Train Depot.

She was also a member of Sanilac County Genealogy. Jeane loved spending time with family, basket weaving, quilting, reading and working in her flower gardens. Jeane is survived by one daughter, Susan (Robert Jr.) Snow; two sons, James E. (Dawn) and Bruce H. Wilson; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Snow (Mark Wilson), Stephanie Snow (Mike Rogers), Eric Wilson, Jessica (Mike) Stafford, Matt Wilson (Maria Ostrowski), Howard (Katherine) Wilson, Bruce (Gina) Wilson, Jarod Wilson (fiance Grace Darling), Lilly Wilson, Brandi Fowler and Sheena (Ron) Haven; many great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Jeri Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Schoch and Emily Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wilson; one son, John L. Wilson; parents, Everett and Elverna Bertelsen; and one sister, Mary Helen Bertelsen. The family will receive friends from 3 – 8 PM Friday, December 21, 2018 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and 10 AM until time of the service Saturday. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Pastor Mike Hollenbeck officiating.

Burial will take place at Marlette Cemetery, Marlette, MI. Memorial Contributions may be made to Lapeer County Medical Care Facility – Auxiliary. You may share an online condolence with the family at www.
