Jeaneta Jewel Wallace was born on January 14, 1934 in Clarendon to the late Noel and Ethel Hewett . For many years, Jeaneta worked as a bookkeeper supporting the family construction business. She also worked for Amsco Steel Company as receptionist, bookkeeper and in the computer department until she retired.
In the final years, she worked in the home health industry, until she was 80 years of age, caring for others. Jeaneta Wallace — a self-giving, sacrificial woman who changed lives of countless family members, friends, and neighbors, as she tried to be the hands and feet of Jesus that reflected the Light of Jesus. She was always learning and creating with her hands in crafts and on the computer as she looked for creative ways to serve others.
As a prayer warrior, she constantly prayed for others’ needs. It was her steadfast faith, unfailing perseverance, mixed with unconditional love and genuine heartfelt concern that made a difference in the lives she touched. To her, everyone was “family”.
The Wallace family moved to Fort Worth in 1968. Soon, they joined the First Baptist Church of Benbrook where Jeaneta found an outlet for a life of service to others. Because of Christ, Jeaneta was quick to notice others who needed a friend or encouragement and moved to invite them to join her in the journey.
Her care and compassion were evident in every aspect of service from teaching the Word of God, crafts or cooking a meal, especially one with buttermilk pound cake and sweet tea. Her gifts of hospitality and acts of service were laid on the altar of service as part of her “reasonable acts of spiritual worship, Rom. 12:1-2”.
Jeaneta was saved by grace and walked by faith in Him who loved her and gave Himself for her. Preceding her in death are her husband, Vernon Wallace; parents, Noel and Ethel Hewett; sister, Barbara Brown; and brother, Bobby Hewett. Survivors: Four children: daughter, Judy Patterson (husband, Rev.
Mike Patterson) of Cedar Lane; sons, Mike Wallace (wife, Robin) of Fort Worth; Jerry Wallace of Benbrook; and Kevin Wallace (wife, Laurie) of Joshua; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, LaRee Short of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
