Obituary for Jeanette Charlotte Tindall McGee Jeanette Charlotte Tindall McGee FORT WORTH-Jeanette McGee, 85, passed away on September 7, 2018. SERVICE: A celebration of life will be held at 4:30pm on September 22nd at the Church of the Holy Apostles, 3900 Longview Avenue. Reverend Joel Hampton will officiate.

Interment will be in the church columbarium followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Apostles or the charity of choice. Jeanette was born February 25, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pa.

to Jean Elizabeth Scott Tindall and Frank Emmett Tindall. She lived in Philadelphia until she was six and then moved to Yeadon, Pa. where she lived until age 13.

Then the family moved to Secane, Pa. where she attended Upper Darby High School until graduation in 1951. She was an honor student and very active in school activities.

After graduation, she went to work at American Oil Company and attended Wharton Business School in the evenings. In 1953 she married William Tecumseh McGee in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles and the Mediator in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1954 they moved to her husband’s home in Fort Worth, Texas.

They lived there for a year and joined All Saint’s Episcopal Church. Then she and her husband and their little baby girl moved to Austin, where he attended the University of Texas Law School. Jeanette worked at the State Capitol in the Legislature and at the Highway Department and helped put her husband through Law School.

They returned to Fort Worth in 1958 with their 2 little girls and resumed membership at All Saint’s. While there, Jeanette taught Sunday School, was a Choir member, member of the Board of the Episcopal Counseling Service, member of the Women of the Church, and member of the Outreach Commission. In 1963 they were commissioned to start a mission on the West Side of Fort Worth which became The Church of The Holy Apostles.

From 1960 to 1963, she worked as a secretary at General Dynamics. Then she was home for many years and had three more children. She was active in the PTA, serving as Program Chairman the first year of Western Hills Elementary School, Co-Chairman of a Camp Fire Girl’s Group for 2 years, participating in her husband’s successful campaign for Probate Judge and was the Co-Chairman for the organization of the American Cancer Society in West Fort Worth.

At Holy Apostles, she taught Sunday School, was a Choir member, Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee, made the speech when the mission became a parish and was Chairperson of the Architectural Committee for the current building. In 1980, she went to work for the General Adjustment Bureau and then on to John Hancock Insurance Company. After three years there as a secretary, she became an Independent Insurance Agent.

During the 22 years of having her own insurance business, she was very active in the Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters serving on the Board for 10 years, chairing five chairs, some for more than two years. She was the first agent at the Fort Worth John Hancock Agency to market the John Hancock Long-Term Care product in the early 1990’s. She was a member of the Fort Worth Women’s Club, Fort Worth Lawyers Wives and the West Side Lady Lions Club.

She was a delegate or alternate delegate to many national NAHU conventions and won awards at several state conventions. The highlight of her career was as the 2001 Recipient of the Donna Carnall Achievement Award earned by the outstanding Fort Worth Agent of the Year. Jeanette enjoyed her church activities, sewing in the early years of her marriage, grandchildren, traveling, skiing, cooking, entertaining, gardening, reading and her years as an independent insurance agent.

Preceding Jeanette in her death were her parents; Jean Elizabeth Scott Tindall and Frank Emmett Tindall, and beloved step-parents; Robert Lee Hortz (Dad) and Margaret Brett Tindall and grandson, Jeremy Tyler McGee. SURVIVORS: William (Bill) McGee, beloved husband of 65 years, children; Janet Cynthia Buehler, her daughters Jackie and Cassey, Michelle Susan Kells and husband Chad Kells; Pamela Anne McGee and daughter Hilary; Mark David McGee and his children; Carly, Katherine, Mary and David; and Angela Ruth Slovak and husband Joseph; and children Zachary and Vivian. Also surviving, sisters, Janice Townsend and husband Randy and Judi Keen.
