Mrs. Marcia Jean “Jeannie” Lancaster, age 66, left this world for Heaven on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at her home in Cochran, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones and her animals. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28 in the chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5 til 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Lancaster was born in Dublin, raised in Chester, and resided in Eastman most of her adult life. She served as the Official Court Reporter for the Oconee Judicial Circuit for thirty-two years, reporting on thousands of cases during her time in the courtroom.

An avid horse lover, she grew up barrel racing and won many competitions and titles as a teenager and young adult. She continued to enjoy working with horses and riding until the end of her wonderful life. She was also a star athlete and a talented artist who enjoyed painting and drawing, in addition to playing piano and singing.

Mrs. Lancaster grew up in Chester Baptist Church, and later became a longtime member of Zebulon Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and taught Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Lancaster is survived by her husband, Harold O. Lancaster of Cochran, GA; daughter, Samantha Stephens of Nashville, TN; sister, Mary Ann Martin (Clint) of Eastman; brother, Cliff Moore (Stacey) of Cochran; nephews Dylan Martin (Paige) and Brooks Martin of Eastman; great-nephew, Jase and Jett Martin; brother-in-law, Stan Gay; aunt, Bernease Butts (the late Woody, Sr.) of Cochran; uncle, Scotty Moore (Beverly) of Chester; and several beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Marland “Bubber” Rogers Moore and Mary Tarpley Moore, and her sister, Sharon Moore Gay.
