Obituary for Jeffery T. Starnes Print A devoted servant to Howard County youth, citizens and concert-goers for many years, Jeffery Taylor Starnes passed away on February 5. Jeff was a proud 1979 graduate of Wilde Lake High School where he was a 12-letter athlete, setting several records as a running back. Serving subsequently as a high school football and wrestling coach whose teams won multiple county and state championships, a college and high school football referee, Staff Director and Head of Security at Merriweather Post pavilion, with a stint as an Assistant to the Howard County Executive, Jeff was a beloved teammate, colleague, employee and manager.
In addition to his son, Jordan, Jeff is survived by his parents, Rev. Luther W. Starnes and Joyce M. (Strang) Starnes, brothers James T. Starnes and his wife Jan of Richmond, VA, L. Scott Starnes and his wife Lisa of Frisco, TX, sister Wendy S. Seiders and her husband Chris of Gaithersburg, MD, along with eight nieces and nephews and countless friends, all of whom will miss his larger than life personality, sense of humor and devotion. A memorial service is being planned and will be held at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, Daniels, MD.
