Jeffrey Welch July 23, 1954 – December 16, 2018 Captain Jeffrey W. Welch USNR Retired passed away on December 16, 2018. He served 27 years active and reserve duty. He was a “Desert Storm” combat veteran who served in the Pacific and Atlantic fleets, as well as, the Persian Guld and Indian Oceans.

He was born in Long Beach, CA on July 23, 1954 to parents Walter and Helen Welch. He grew up attending school in The Territory of Hawaii, Japan, Clifornia, Texas, and Iowa. He graduated from from Marion High School in Marion, Iowa in 1972.

He graduated from Auburn University in 1976 and was commissioned through the Navy ROTC program at Auburn. His civilian career included manufacturing management positions with Raytheon in Dallas,as well as, being the President and CEO of Hemisphere Logistics in Galveston. Additionally, he served as The Department of State’s US Embassy Bagdad Senior Ports Advisor for Iraq, and as a contract military advisor to the Afghan Army in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Mary Louise Timms; son Brian Welch and wife Ashlyn of Dallas; son Keith Welch and wife Kirsten of Lubbock; granddaughters Sophia, Penelope, Genevieve, Tabitha, Juliet, Vivien, and Adeline; as well as his brother Victor Welch and wife Kathy; and sister Andrea Witzig and her sons Tristan and Liam. He will be buried at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with full military honors.
