Janette Amanda Thorne, aged 65, of Windermere, Florida, died on Sunday 28th April 2019 after a short and sudden illness. She passed away in the Dr P. Phillips Hospital, Florida, USA surrounded by her family. Janette was born on 27th November 1953 in Rinteln, Germany to John and Brenda Creffield whilst her Father was stationed in Germany with the Army.
She lived there in Germany for three and half years before she returned to the UK with her parents. She then lived in Chester for many years where she leaves behind many good and close friends and neighbors. Whilst living in Chester, she met the love of her life, Howard.
Howard was aged 10 and Janette just 9 when they first met. Their connection was instant. They remained good friends as they grew older and their deep friendship turned to love.
They married on 2nd June 1973 in Christleton Church, Chester with a jubilant wedding reception afterwards at the Abbots Well Hotel, Chester. Howard was a devoted husband to Janette; the pair of them often being described as “peas in a pod” and “lovebirds”. Janette was educated at Ellesmere Port Grammar School.
After leaving school, Janette worked for many years as a bank clerk at Natwest Bank in Chester. She was known for her charm, her cheerful disposition and the interest she took in each of her customers; making each one of them feel special and remembered. Janette leaves behind many special and close friends and customers from her years at the bank.
Leaving the bank in late 1990’s, Janette and Howard set up their family real estate, property management and rentals business “Homes of America” now based in Florida. With Janette’s vision and their collective hard work, Howard and Janette turned this dream into a very successful international business, providing jobs in the local community and securing Janette and Howard a home in Florida. Howard and the family have been greatly touched and overwhelmed by the kindness of homeowners and work colleagues and their outpouring of love for Janette since her passing.
Having been selected as a television model for her smile and eye catching good looks, it is not a surprise that many loved ones who survive Janette remember her for what they describe as her “infectious smile”. Anyone who knew Janette will also remember for her sharp sense of humor and her love of life. With a wicked laugh, Janette was quick to see the fun and mischief in life.
Modest and humble to the core, kind and generous to all she encountered, she never knew the high regard in which she was held by those around her. Janette is survived by her Husband, Howard Thorne; her Mother, Brenda Creffield; her eldest daughter, Zoe Attwood; her youngest daughter, Kylie Thorne; her son-in-law, Ben Attwood; her eldest granddaughter, Francesca; her youngest granddaughter, Angelina and her unborn grandson. She is preceded in death by her Father, John Creffield who passed on 2 January 2019.
Funeral service and cremation will be held for immediate family on Saturday 18 May 2019 at 11am. Janette’s wishes for her funeral arrangements were known and she asked Howard to hold a party for all her friends and family; both in Florida and then in the UK. The date for these events are to be confirmed and likely to be later in the year.
