OBITUARY Jennie Mahoney August 6, 1919 – November 23, 2018 Born to Charles and Elizabeth Kubinger, August 6, 1919 in Bannister, Michigan, passed away November 23, 2018. Jennie was married to Robert D. Mahoney, former Michigan State Representative who passed away March 2017. Both Jennie and Robert Mahoney were blind and met at the Michigan School for the Blind, she attended Adrian College then were married in November 1941.

Jennie and Robert had ten children, Gary (deceased), Roberta Staton (Charles, deceased), Rosemary Sinutko (deceased), Dennis (Jackie), Colleen Sinutko (John), Joseph (Marlene), Mark (Kelly), Michael, William (Mary), Robert (Dari). Jennie had 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Katherine “Kelly” Mahoney, her granddaughter, for her compassionate and loving care for the past two years.

Jennie was an incredible woman and raising ten children while being blind was nothing short of remarkable. She would put bells on the children shoes, so she knew where they were. If she did not hear any bells, she knew that they were getting into something and she had to investigate.

People would comment that Jennie house was always clean, the children were always polite, and she was a wonderful cook. All her children grew up to be successful and the family remains very close and loving. Jennie and Robert started a successful insurance company, Michigan Notary Service, which is now owned by daughter Colleen.

They enjoyed playing card and going out to dinner with family and friends. Jennie and Robert traveled to Europe to visit several religious shrines and enjoyed going to Florida in the winter. Family was always the center of Jennie’s life and her love for her children and their love for their mother is legendary and will live on for generations.
