Jennings Bryan Knight, 84, of Connersville passed away late Friday evening, March 29, 2019, at his home. One of six children of Edward Allen and Betty Mae Gravitt Knight, Jennings was born in Dayton, Rhea County, Tennessee on January 3, 1935. At age four, Jennings moved to Fayette County, Indiana with his family and as a teenager moved to Brownsville, Union County, Indiana.

He attended Bunker Hill Elementary School and Brownsville High School. At age 16, Jennings went to work at Hills Roses, then joined the United States Army in 1956 where he earned his GED on May 25, 1958. Following his service to his country, Jennings returned home and went to work at Rex Manufacturing, followed by Wayne Works in Richmond, M & D in Cambridge City, Philco Ford, D & M, and H. H. Robertson in Connersville.

He then was employed at Ford Electronics & Refrigeration in the model shop, retiring December 31, 1996, after 44 years of service. On September 23, 1961, Jennings married the former Darlene Joy Young in Boston, Indiana. Mrs. Knight survives.

Along with his family, Jennings was a faithful member of Eastview Baptist Church where he had served as a trustee. Later, he and Darlene became members of Connersville Baptist Temple. Jennings was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He acquired the nickname, Mr. Fix-It due to his enjoyment of working on odd jobs. He also enjoyed target shooting, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family. Besides his wife of 57 years, Darlene Knight, survivors include three children, Jennifer Lynn Strawn of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bryan Keith (Tamra) Knight of Holly, Michigan, Sandra Jo (Darren) Niehoff of Rushville, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Devon Joseph (Kylie) Niehoff, Matthew Jennings Niehoff (fiancé, Marci Black), Nathan Jensen Niehoff, Joshua Aaron Strawn, Austin Jennings Strawn, Britten Scott Knight, Taylor Bryan Knight, Jade Treslar Knight, Gabriela Chloe Knight; two great-granddaughters, Brynn Elizabeth Knight and Finley Jo Niehoff; a brother, Jerry (Cynthia) Knight of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Betty Joyce Nester of Houston, Texas and Judy Brunsman of Connersville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jennings was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward Knight and James Knight. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Connersville Baptist Temple, 1380 E State Road 44, Connersville, Indiana with Pastor Joe Ferreira officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Dale Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home and also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
