Jerome’s Obituary Jerry was born on March 9, 1925, in Milwaukee,Wisconsin, to Vincent Edward Rounds and Helen Siegfried Rounds. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mildred Holliday Rounds. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Cox Rounds, after a marriage of 32 years.

He is also predeceased by his daughter, Sandra George Penrose, and by grandchildren Dorothy Penrose, Vincent Rounds, Michael Rounds, and Bernard Penrose. He is survived by his daughter Susan Gonzalez and husband Isaac, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and his son Vincent E. Rounds and his wife Mary, of Clayton, Georgia. He was blessed with many talented grandchildren who remember him as Grandpa Honey: Michele Pittenger and husband Frank, of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Gonzalez, and his wife, Lisa, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lisa Tanner and her wife Elizabeth Davis, of Spicewood, Texas, Todd Rounds and wife Kelly, of Ft.

Worth, Texas, Traci Easter and husband Jimmy, of Bentonville, Arkansas, Helen Presley and husband Jay, of Decatur, Texas, and Alex Penrose of Plano,Texas. He was blessed with many great grandchildren, who love him dearly. Jerry attended Marquette High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Rice University in Houston, Texas, where it was rumored he played a little bit of football for Coach Jess Neely, before answering the call to defend his country in World War ll.

He served as a sonarman aboard the destroyer escort USS Scott, DE-214, in the ATO (Atlantic Theatre of Operations). He was, and remains in our grateful memories, a true member of The Greatest Generation. Upon leaving the service, Jerry began a long and respected career in sales for The Peden Iron Works in Houston, Texas, moving on from there to work for the Earle M. Jorgensen Steel Company in Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas, Texas for 34 years.

He was a salesman’s salesman, living and preaching his favorite quote “It doesn’t matter what you sell, in the end, a great salesman sells himself”. His unmatched work ethic and integrity brought him the respect and love of both co-workers and grateful customers alike. He was one of a kind.

Jerry loved any game played by the Cowboys, Rangers or Mavericks, and read the Sports Page first in the morning paper, followed by the Crossword puzzle and comics, before the day’s news. Jerry and Mildred enjoyed a wide variety of passions and interests after their retirement, including travel throughout the world. They made contact with relatives in Germany and, thankfully, he knew and remembered enough German from his childhood to allow easy communication.

Jerry was also an avid amateur photographer, taking this hobby all the way from composing and taking the pictures, to developing and printing them himself. Perhaps the greatest passion they shared was with a wonderful circle of “extended family”, the “Kissin’ Cuzzins” square dance club. They shared many great memories with the “Cuzzins” ranging from dancing, to informal get togethers, and exciting “Mystery Bus Trips” to exotic, and not so exotic locales.

Jerry and Mildred were members for many years of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. Interment will be at 10:00 am, on Monday, May 6th, at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the veterans organization of your choice.
