OBITUARY Jerome Shindelman November 29, 1934 – December 24, 2018 Jerome (Jerry) Herbert Shindelman, 84 of Monroe Township, NJ passed away December 24, 2018. He was born November 29, 1934 to Philip & Sylvia (Augenstein) Shindelman in Newark, NJ. Jerry graduated Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

He received his Masters Degree in History from Rutgers University. He taught History at Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas, Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & was at Middle County College for 41 ½ years where he taught History, was Dean of Continuing Education, Department Chair of History & Social Science, & Executive Assistant Vice President of the College. He started the Holocaust Center at Middle County College and was on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Middle County and on the Holocaust and Education Committee of the Federation.

He is survived by his sisters Pat Lamatino and Marcia Trechak (Perry). He was pre-deceased by his sister Edna Kaplan. He leaves his nieces and nephews Randi Bilinski, Rikki Field (Robert) Shelley, Robert (Aileen) and Richard Kaplan, Eric(Linda), Philip (Jessica), and Brad (Missy) Trechak & Judi Skalak & many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 30, 2018, at 11AM, at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue/ Rt 527,Manalapan, NJ. Burial will take place at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J. The family requests that donations be made to the Holocaust Center of Middle County College.
