The service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at Lacy Funeral Home Thursday, May 9th, 2pm with Dr. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Wednesday, May 8th at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.

Jerry was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, to Roy and Mazel Fredell. He graduated from Cherryville High School and joined the U.S. Marines, serving four years in the Far East during the Vietnam Conflict. Jerry married LaNiece Robison seventeen years after they first met in Okinawa—he claimed he chased her around the world!

They returned to LaNiece’s home state of Texas and settled in Stephenville to raise their family. He embraced being a Texan and proudly graduated from Tarleton State University with a B.A. in Sociology. For 15 years, Jerry worked side-by-side with LaNiece in the ESL Program (English as a Second Language) at First Baptist Church, Stephenville.

Another favorite pastime was “coffee at Jake and Dorothy’s Restaurant”. The family is forever thankful for all the many kindnesses shown by these loving friends. Jerry’s first question to all new friends was “Do you know Jesus?

” Jerry was happiest when surrounded by his three daughters, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, church family, and friends. He claimed many international friends as his own children. The Fredell family continually grew with those special people who needed a home-away-from-home.

Jerry’s heart was full of unconditional love, generosity, and genuine friendship. His spirit lives in those related to him by blood and those related to him by choice. These relationships enriched his life beyond measure.

The family is deeply grateful for the skilled care Jerry received from the Alpha Omega Hospice team: Kayla Gill, Christina Moreno, Cissy Ward, and Chaplain Tammy Rokus. He loved you dearly. Survivors include his wife, LaNiece Fredell; daughters, Tammy Tidwell, Tina Webb, and Cindy Wills; grandchildren, Jeri LaNiece Gill, Matilda Tidwell, Justin Ayers, and Tyler Short; great-grandchildren Madelyn Grace Dutton, D’Jay Gill, and Dylan Ayers; siblings, Sybil Hester, Robin Neal, and Darrel Fredell.

In lieu of flowers, please give to someone in need or make a contribution to the International Ministries or ESL Program of First Baptist Church, Stephenville.
