Obituary for Jerry Brincks Gerald “Jerry” Brincks, age 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at his home in Melcher, Iowa. He was born March 6, 1958 in New Hampton, Iowa, to Edwin and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Brincks. Jerry was a 1976 graduate of New Hampton High School.
After graduation Jerry enlisted in the Army in 1977, giving 12 years as an infantryman. Upon completion of the service to his country Jerry moved to Des Moines where he learned and became a Journey Man Electrician, giving 30 years to the trade. Outside work Jerry enjoyed working on woodworking projects in his shop and garage.
He loved building things and fixing things to make them better. In October 2010, Jerry united in marriage with Julie Kendrick. Jerry and Julie enjoyed traveling together.
Some of their memorable trips were to Oregon, Washington, California, Tennessee, and Southern Texas. Jerry always made sure that Julie got to Kansas several times per year to visit with friends and family and to Minnesota City to visit family. He was a very caring and loving person, but could sometimes be on the ornery side.
Together Jerry and Julie were blessed with thirteen grandchildren. Jerry was great with kids and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years Shirley Brincks; parents; Edwin and Elizabeth Brincks, father-in-law Ronald Kendrick. Jerry is survived by his wife, Julie Brincks; 5 children Sonya (Andy) Clark of Minnesota City, MN. Chad (Casey) Gerard of Johnson City, KS, Blake (Heidi) Gerard Collinsville, OK, Greg Gerard of Johnson, KS, and Kayla (Andrew) Green of Johnson City, KS; 13 grandchildren; mother-in-law Barbara Kendrick of Johnson City, KS; and siblings: Bob (Betty) Brincks of New Hampton, IA, Dewey (Mary) Brincks of Lawler, IA, Ron Brincks of Hew Hampton, IA, Linda (Tom) Sauer of Walker IA, Karen (Tom) Oberg of Moline IL.
And Donna (Rick) Houser of New Hampton, IA. Services will be held Friday June 1, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the New Covenant Church in Knoxville, Iowa. Family will have a Celebration of Life Picnic from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa.
Memorial may be made in Jerry’s name to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, St. Joseph’s Indian School, and Shrine’s Hospital for Children.
