OBITUARY Jerry Daniel Speed November 4, 1938 – July 16, 2018 Jerry Daniel Speed, age 79 of Homewood, died Monday, July 16, 2018. In his younger years he played softball and bowled but his great love was golf. he taught golf for many years and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love of the game with others.
His dry wit and sense of humor were known to all and helped him to meet and overcome many challenges and obstacles. Jerry was predeceased by his brother Don Speed of Clearwater, FL. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Speed, his brothers Jim Speed and Bill Speed all of Birmingham, his cousin Bob Price was as close as a brother.
He also is survived by several nieces and nephews along with many friends, especially John and Mary Breckenridge of Birmingham. The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel from 1 until 2 pm on Thursday, July 19th. Graveside services will follow at Valhalla Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
