Obituary for Jerry Don Abshier Jerry Don Abshier (65) – known to many as “Lost Indian” or “Pops” – of Midwest City, OK, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2018. He was born October 18, 1952, to Junior D. Abshier and Celia McSwain Johnson. He married the love of his life, Rhonda Baker Abshier, on July 2, 1982.

Jerry fought a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, Diabetes, and eventually Pancreatic Cancer. The family will be forever grateful for the visits and prayers over the past few months. Jerry graduated from Moore High School, and also studied heat and air conditioning at Sooner College of Technology where he graduated at the top of his class with honors.

Following high school, Jerry served time in the U.S. Army, but he spent most of his life as a cross-country truck driver in the transportation industry traveling to 49 states, Canada and Mexico. He was very proud of his heritage as a Chickasaw Native American who loved fishing, camping, auto racing, and spending fun times with family and friends when he could. Jerry was a very humble and gentle introspective spirit, as well as a hard-working man of integrity that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and his sense of humor and quick wit.

He was a very generous soul, always willing to assist those who needed help or a hand up. Jerry is survived by his wife, his sons, Joshua Abshier (Edna Abshier), Jordan Abshier, Michael Abshier – grandchildren, Carl Abshier, William Abshier, Able Abshier, Hayden Green – as well as sisters-in law – Dawn Baker Chrisostom (George Chrisostom), Darlene Baker-Mann, and Danelle Baker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many “adopted” neighborhood kids, whom he deeply loved and cared about.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Joel Abshier, Stephen Abshier, and William Clock – brother-in-law Johnnie Mann, and parents-in-law John C. Baker and Anita L. Baker. We will be celebrating Jerry’s life on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Candlewood Chapel, 315 Sooner Road, Midwest City, OK (next to Ford Funeral Home).
