Jesse James Moore Sr., age 75, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born to the late William A. Sr. and Ethel L. (South) Moore. He was the eleventh of thirteen children blessed from this union.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Phillips Temple CME Church. He graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1961. He retired from General Motors after 32 years of service.
He was a faithful member of United Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Leroy Cothran, where he served as a Deacon, Usher and Treasurer. He enjoyed attending Sunday School and Bible Study faithfully.
Jesse loved his Western movies and was a Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals fan. He was an avid fisherman and loved working in his garden. Jesse is remembered for his commitment to his family and instilled the importance of family in his children and grandchildren.
He had a smile that would light up a room and he had a love for all children that called him Uncle Jesse. Preceded in death by his brothers, William A. Moore Jr., Allen B. Moore Sr., Robert L. Moore Sr.; sisters, Mary Louise Pore, Ethel M. Hooks, Wilma J. McCorry, Elizabeth Calloway, Geraldine M. Hampton and his beloved daughter LaTricia E. Moore. He leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife (whom he married on November 18, 2012), Sylvia Ballew Moore; children, Jesse (Micelle) Moore Jr., Florida, Steven (Line) Moore, Duane (Janette) Moore Sr., Florida, Marquita (Jerome) Jefferies, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley, Kiana, Terrell, Janea, Duane Jr., Caprice, Timothy and Tyara Moore, Eric, Terrell, Earl, Dawayne, De’Angelo, D’Marcus Moore-Bivens, Shane (Amanda) and D’Andre Elder; 11 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, Ellana Moore; sisters, Tillie (John) Thomas, Barbara McGriff, Las Vegas, Rickie Myles, Willa Woodfork and mother of his children, Marion (Moore) Trigg; extended family, Janel Olgetree, Sonya Dancy, Braylin Ballew, Aniya Dancy, Lisa Young, Jamell Morrison, Erica and London Hunter; faithful aunt, Doris Ferguson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, July 19, 2018 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Lexington Ave. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Interment West Memory Gardens.
