OBITUARY Jessie Edith Kartsonis May 27, 1926 – January 27, 2019 Jessie Edith Kartsonis was born May 27, 1926 in Simpson, Kansas. She was the sixth of nine children of Milton S. and Jessie D. McKee. She graduated from Asherville Rural High School in 1944.

Shortly after, she followed two of her sisters to the Kansas City area to attend nursing school at Trinity Lutheran Hospital where she received her R.N. diploma in 1948. During nursing school, she was introduced to the love of her life, George, and they were married October 17, 1948. Edith was active in her children’s lives as they grew up serving as Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA officer as well active in numerous school booster clubs, including past President of Delta Upsilon Fraternity (MU chapter) Mother’s Club.

Edith and George built their dream home at Lake Winnebago and spent 32 years as active citizens there. Edith was on the board of the Home Owners Association, a charter member of the Arrowhead Yacht Club, secretary of the Wallstreeters Investment Club and a member of the Sportsman Club in the early development days of Lake Winnebago. After they moved to John Knox, Edith was a member of the Retired Nurses group and enjoyed volunteering at the Village Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, grandson David Kartsonis, great grandson Kyle Anthony Lillis, sisters: Opal Richardson, Bula Saunders, and Hazel Saunders, brothers: Keith McKee, Kenneth McKee and Neal McKee. She is survived by daughter Carol Lillis (Jim); sons: William Kartsonis (Jan), Gregory Kartsonis (fiancé Babs), all of Lake Winnebago; grandchildren Katie Lillis, Miami; Kyle Lillis (Krista), Boston; Matthew Kartsonis, Kansas City; Blair Lillis (Jessica), Lake Winnebago; Michael Kartsonis, Kansas City; Alex Kartsonis (Abby), Lee’s Summit. She also leaves behind five great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Edith is also survived by two sisters, Mary (Trippy) Tripp, Beloit, KS and Vera Stage, O’Fallon, MO. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
