The daughter of the late Dock Bryant and the late Willie Mae Bryant. She accepted Christ at an early age and graduated from Central High School in Palatka, Florida in 1944.

She attended Sam Lee School of Nursing and received her Registered Nursing Degree. Jessie relocated to Jasper, Texas where she met and was united in marriage to Elvin F Seals on July 20, 1953 in Vernon Parish Louisiana. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1974.

She worked at Hardy Hancock Hospital and was one of the first black nurses there in Jasper, Texas. She later relocated to Houston, Texas and went to work for Jefferson Davis Hospital. Jessie later started her own business called Seals & Leonard School of Nursing in 1962 with co-owner (Jewel Leonard).

She was a member of Greater Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Forrest D. Kindley. She was active in church until her health began to fail. She continued to pay her tithes until her passing.

Her faith in God was unwavering. She loved her family dearly and she also loved helping people too. She was Big Mama to everyone that knew her.

Ms. Jessie L. Seals passed away on January 20, 2019 at The Heights of North Houston Skilled Nursing Home in Houston, Texas. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Her memories are left to cherish by two children and their spouses Earlyne (Theodore) Davis, Edward (Brenda) Seals all of Houston, Texas, six loving grandchildren; Sandra Harris, Theodore (Michelle) Davis IV, Tia Thomas, Derek Davis, Shrone (Rico) Jenkins and Dominic (Renea) Seals, thirteen loving great grandchildren; six loving great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
