OBITUARY Jesusita “Chuy” Garcia August 5, 1932 – January 20, 2019 Jesusita “Chuy” Garcia, 86, of Groves passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. Chuy was born August 5, 1932 to the late Luis and Maria Ybarra. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Chuy enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing and playing solitaire. She was an avid reader and loved traveling all over the world. Chuy was most passionate about watching her grandchildren in their activities.

Chuy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Martin Garcia and her son, Thomas Garcia; sisters, Simona Rosas, Petra Aguilar, Dolores Ybarra Menard and Mary Ellen Ybarra. She is survived by her children, Susan Canizales and her husband Joe Jr; Cindy Moreno and her husband Rudy; Cathy Garcia and Stefanie Garcia; brother, Luis Ybarra and wife Naomi; sisters, Juanita Teran, Ana M. Babineaux and Beatrice Scarbrough. Chuy also leaves behind grandchildren, Jose Homero Pompa Jr., Nick Canizales, Mike Canizales, Arturo Ortega and Abel Ortega, great grandchildren, Hazel Pompa, Cade Canizales, Madeline Canizales and one on the way to cherish her memories.

A Christian Vigil will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
