Obituary for Jim Jimmy “Jim” Wayne Hendrich, 68, of Greencastle and St. Louis, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 8, 2018, surrounded by wife and daughters in St. Louis. He was born February 2, 1950 in Greencastle, the son of Roy D. and Mavis L. (Huffman) Hendrich. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School class of 1968.

He attended Purdue University studying aviation and graduated from the Indiana Police Academy. Jim was a police officer, having served more than 30 years in Greencastle and Putnam County law enforcement. He also served as an instructor at the police academy, criminal investigator, Chief Deputy and Chief of Police.

He was an active volunteer in the communities he lived and dedicated his life to service and helping others. Jim and family relocated to St. Louis in 2003. He will always be remembered for his warm and loving personality.

Jim enjoyed watching Western movies, golf, hunting and fishing, and most of all spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his wife, Ann (Libka) Hendrich; daughters Jennifer Lynn (Cayton) Hendrich and her children James and Olivia Cayton and Lauren Nicole (Hendrich) and husband Zachary Evans and their children Amelia, Graham, Alexandria and Riley Evans; sisters Jean Ann Murphy (Hendrich) and Linda Anderson (Hendrich); and brother John Hendrich. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 13 at Salem United Methodist Church, 1200 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63131.

Interment with will follow at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the Salem United Methodist Church, St. Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Backstoppers Inc., P.O. Box 795168, St. Louis, Mo.

63179-0700 to provide support to the spouses and dependent children of all police officers, firefighters and volunteer firefighters, and publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs who have lost their lives or suffered a catastrophic injury performing their duty.
