Obituary for Jim R. Berg James R. “Jim” Berg, age 91, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 1:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Cathedral Health Care in Jasper, Indiana. Jim was born in Troy, Indiana, on January 31, 1927, to Gilbert and Marie (Grass) Berg. He married Bettye J. Pfau on June 22, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She preceded him in death on March 2, 2011. He was a United States Army veteran, who served in Japan during World War II. Jim was the office manager at Breidenbaugh’s in Jasper for 50 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper K of C, American Legion Post #147, and V.F.W. Post #673. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, yardwork, grilling, music, bowling, and spending time with family. Surviving are three daughters, Shelley Otto and Jeryl Luegers, Jasper, IN, Lisa (John) Siebert, Jasper, IN, Melanie Berg and Maureen McCune, Greenwood, IN, two sons, Michael Berg, Chicago, IL, Marty Berg and Joey Mateo, San Francisco, CA, four grandchildren, Leslie Otto, Jasper, IN, Nick Otto and fiancé, Emily Mendel, Lexington, KY, Nathan (Liz) Berg, Chicago, IL, Theresa (Brian) Rekruciak, Chicago, IL, two great grandchildren, Ryan and Jack Berg, one sister, Rosemarie Gramelspacher, Jasper, IN, one brother, John L. (Liz) Berg, Columbia, SC.

Preceding him in death besides his wife, are one son, Mark Berg, one brother, Bill Berg, and one sister, Marjorie Curtin. A Mass of Christian Burial James R. “Jim” Berg will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military grave site rights.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity. Upcoming Events Visitation 2018 JUL 6.
