Jimmie’s Obituary Jimmie Dale Mortensen, 85, of Murrells Inlet, died May 5, 2019 at his Murrells Inlet, SC home. Born October 10, 1933, he was a son of the late Marvin Lloyd and Emma Martha (Mann) Mortensen. He was also preceded in death by his wife Darla and his second wife Wilhelmina.

Jimmie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jim was in the Navy as an electronics specialist during the Korean conflict. He worked for Boeing, General Dynamics (Lockheed) before ending up with Tandy Corporation where he was the Vice President of Tandy Electronics Manufacturing.

During his 22 years with Tandy Corporation he designed and manufactured the Science Fair DIY electronics kits, as well as starting the CB antenna, cassette magnetic tape, speaker, and TRS 80 computer factories. He retired from Tandy Corporation in 1989. Jimmie is survived by his son Steven; his 2 daughters, Sanda and Nicole, and 9 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Myrtle Beach Funeral Home, 4505 Hwy 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Burial will be in Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cedar Vale, Kansas under direction of Shelley Family Funeral Home, Arkansas City, KS.
