OBITUARY Jimmy “Jim” P. Scott July 9, 1934 – July 8, 2018 Jimmy Paul (Jim) Scott passed away on Sunday July 8, 2018, just short of his 84th birthday. He is survived by his wife and friend of 42 years Gloria Sue Cheatham Scott, son Jimmy Paul Scott II, daughter Julie McPherson, granddaughters Fallon and Haley McPherson, great grandson Joseph Cates, sister Linda Moore, brother Hubert Scott (Elizabeth), numerous nieces, nephews, loving in-laws, and friends. Number nine of eleven children of Jesse Thomas Scott and Zora Goss Scott, he attended NLR High School (Class of 1952) where he was an All State basketball player, an AAU swimming and diving State Champion Gold Medalist and a two time Duncan Yo-Yo Champion!

Jimmy served in the Army, and obtained a Master of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas. Jim performed many different jobs in his lifetime – producer/director at Channel 4, professor at Southern Illinois University, booking bands and entertainment with partner and lifetime friend Jim Porter, Personnel Director for the city of NLR, AETN, Administrative Director for the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Criminal Justice Institute at UALR. He wrote songs and political jingles for many Arkansas candidates.

His most memorable song – “Short Squashed Texan” in 1964 when Arkansas won the national championship. His most memorable political jingle – “Pin A Rose On Me” for the NLR mayoral race of 1972. He was an avid water sports person who skied on his Air-Chair until he was 75.
