Jo Ann Maguire April 1, 1942 – December 4th, 2018 Jo Ann (Kramer) Maguire, 76, of Cranford, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 4th in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family. Jo Ann was born April 1st 1942, in Jersey City to Joseph and Anna (Amabile) Kramer. She graduated high school at Saint Aloysius Academy, Jersey City, NJ.

She later married her best friend and soul mate, Michael Maguire, on November 3rd, 1962 at St. Patrick’s Church in Jersey City, NJ. … Read More » While raising her two children, Michele (Carosi) and Nicole (Maguire) and balancing a full-time career as a legal secretary, Jo Ann also attended Kean University as a non-traditional student and received her B.S. as a magna cum laude graduate. Jo Ann was a part of both the Jersey City Women’s Club and the Cranford’s Women Club, where she met many of her lifelong friends.

Jo Ann helped many non-traditional students obtain their associates degree during her career as a counselor at Union County College’s Center for Adults Returning to Education (CARE). Jo Ann fought a strong and brave lifetime battle with Type 1 Diabetes. She is survived by her husband, Michael, her two daughters, Michele and Nicole (and their husbands, Joe Hrubash and Dan Hudson), her five grandchildren, Lauren and Alyssa Carosi, and Daniella, Michael and Lucas Hudson, her brother and his wife, Dennis and Phyllis Kramer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Everyone who knew Jo Ann was touched by her love for life and her beautiful smile – which is how she would want everyone to remember her. All are welcome to remember Jo Ann at DOOLEY’S FUNERAL HOME, 218 North Ave W, Cranford, NJ 07016 on Thursday December 6th, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm to reminisce, grieve and support each other. The funeral mass will be held on Friday December 7th at 9:30a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 40 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ.
