Joan M. “Joanie” Cahill of Cambridge, passed away on October 14, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Beloved wife and best friend of Thomas F. Cahill. Survived by her three devoted and loving children; Thomas F. Cahill Jr., Asst.

Chief at CFD and his wife Shannon of Medfield, Julie M. Cahill Hollingsworth, ANP and her husband Ben of Bedford and Beth Cahill Halloran, CPD and her husband Timothy of Belmont. She also leaves her 8 adored grandchildren; Michael, Erin, and Julia Cahill, Jacob, Emma and Lyla Hollingsworth and Ryan and Molly Halloran. Daughter of the late William and Gertrude Baird.

Sister of the late Jean Machinski and Lawrence “Buzzy” Empey. Funeral from the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Rd. Belmont Saturday at 9AM.

Funeral mass in St. Peter’s Church 100 Concord Ave. Cambridge at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Visiting hours Friday 4-8PM. Interment Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Joanie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverly Oaks Rd.

Waltham, MA. 02452. Joanie was employed at Polaroid Corp after raising her three children and also did private work for her dear friend Sally Edmonds and family.
