Joan Margaret Steese (nee McLaughlin) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 8, 2018 at the age of 83 after a long battle with cancer. Born on January 13, 1935, she was a retired nurse and a life-long Barberton area resident. Joan was active in the Barberton Bible Holiness Church where she faithfully attended.

Joan is survived by her children, Mark (Jo) Steese, Kathleen (Rev. Paul) Martin, Rev. Michael (Janice) Steese, Colleen (Milan) Katanic, Norman (Barb) Steese, Susan (Frank) Woog, Joan (Jon) Ogg; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, James (Karen) McLaughlin; brother-in-law, Larry (Juanita) Steese; sister-in-law, Ann Barnes; nephew, Paul Barnes; niece, Jackie Murray; and other close family members and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Norman Steese; brothers, Robert McLaughlin and Bruce McLaughlin; and three great-grandchildren. Joan will be remembered as a woman of faith who showed the love of Christ to everyone she encountered. “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised”. Proverbs 31:29-30 The family will greet friends at Barberton Bible Holiness Church, 375 37th St. SW, Barberton, OH 44203 on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM, with a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1 PM.
