Leaving you, I fought to do; In between, the two of you; Your with me here, She’s waiting there. The greatest accomplishments in my life Raising two daughters, equally loving, kind, & hard working. I think I got it right.

Today, I say farewell for now to you Carolyn Burton Nolan my devoted daughter to join your sister Linda B. Bailey. With love – Mama Helen Joan Mauti, age 91, of Edgewater, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Regency Elderly Care, Edgewater. Born in Springfield, Ohio, June 12, 1927 to Leslie and Margaret Upp, Joan moved to Jacksonville in 1951 and started in banking.

She retired in 1984 from First Union, New Smyrna Beach after 30 years. Joan was a Methodist all of her life and a member of First United Methodist Church, New Smyrna Beach. She was a theocratic volunteer for 20 years, a volunteer in Faith House Thrift Shop, for 7 years and the Church’s Feeding Program for almost 10 years.

Joan enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, genealogy, and sewing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Joan always said her biggest accomplishment was raising the two most loving, kind and hard working daughters.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Paul) Burton Nolan of Edgewater; 2 granddaughters, Michele Nolan Tucker, of Edgewater, and Tami (Dennis) Bailey Humphryes, of Murphy, NC; grandson, Paul (Beth Ann) Eugene Nolan II of Summerville, SC; 4 great granddaughters, Brittany Nolan, Samantha (Robert) Tucker, Auburnee (Aaron) H. Stanley and Alexis (Ray) H. Graham; 2 great grandsons, Paul Eugene Nolan, III and Lucas Nolan, and 5 great great granddaughters; dear friends, Lee Brock, Becky Charpentier and Willie Cruz and family; 2 cousins, Virginia Bageant and Donna Jean Shadle; 6 stepchildren, especially, Henry (Wanda) B. Mauti, Jr.; 10 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert H. Burton and Henry (Hank) B. Mauti, Sr., sisters, Marilyn Upp and Janet Calmes and daughter, Linda B. Bailey. Special thanks to Beni, Julius and family, Grace, Holly and all of her caregivers at Regency Elderly Care who were her extended family.

She loved them very much just as they loved her. There will be a family memorial in a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joan’s memory to the First United Methodist Church, 310 Douglas Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168 or Regency Elderly Care, 1511 Mango Tree Dr., Edgewater, FL 32132.
