Joanne Harrison February 11, 1937 – April 30, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Edda Joanne Harrison was born February 11, 1937 at the Bauman homestead west of Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Edrae Lorea (Bauman) and Jennings Bryan Berry. She passed away April 30, 2019 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 19 days. Joanne grew up on the family farm west of Cheyenne and attended school in Reydon.

After graduation in 1955 she attended school at Panhandle A&M University in Goodwill, Oklahoma. She was later married to William “Bill” Sheldon Harrison on December 22, 1955 in Wellington, Texas. After their marriage they moved to Amarillo in 1957 where she worked for the city office issuing building and water permits.

Joanne and Bill later moved back to the farm where they made their home. She was employed by the Post Office before they both attended school to start their own auction and real estate business which they operated until the mid 80’s. Joanne took over Hills motel in 1985 and they added the B&H restaurant in 1987.

She continued to own and operate the restaurant until she became a grandma and decided to retire. Although she formally retired she continued to work on the farm where she enjoyed raising cattle and caring for them. Joanne also enjoyed collecting glassware and attending auctions.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 55 plus years, Bill. She is survived by her 2 children, Mike Harrison and Joni Sanderford and husband, Scott, both of Cheyenne, OK; 2 precious granddaughters, Ashley Gardner and husband, Shane and Halie Sanderford; 1 great grandson, Waylon Gardner; her baby (dog), Peanut; 1 sister, Yvonne Cobb and husband, Norman, Oklahoma City, OK; niece and nephew, Lori Murphy and husband, Randy, Moore, OK and Sam Cobb, Fort Lauderdale, FL and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019, 10:00 AM at Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services.

A time of remembrance and meal with the family will follow immediately after. The family request that donations be made to your local animal shelter.
