Joe B. Allen, age 78, of Bellingham passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 at the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham. He was born October 24, 1940 in Spokane, Washington to parents Wilton Overton Allen, Jr. and Persis Flossie (Honshell) Allen.

Joe graduated from West Valley High School in Spokane, WA and went on and graduated from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA with a Master’s Degree. He taught troubled High School kids. Joe married the love of his life Katherine Elizabeth Taylor April 16, 1988 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

He was elected Sheriff in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and served there in Law Enforcement for 10 years. Joe was preceded in death by his sister Helen Allen and is survived by his wife Katherine of 30 years; daughters, Kelea Allen Fields of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Ashli Myers of Spokane, WA; sons, Jaime Allen of Boise ID, Jason Haag of Everett, WA, Andrew Haag of Talkeetna, AK and Robert Haag of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren Kevin Barker, Ethan Myers, Klara and Josef Fields and numerous other relatives. Family suggests memorial contributions be made in Joe’s memory to The Alzheimers Society of Washington, 1301 Fraser St., Suite A-1, Bellingham, WA 98229.

Services will be announced at a later date.
