OBITUARY Joe F. Broadwater May 13, 1930 – January 10, 2019 Play Tribute Movie Joe F. Broadwater, 88, of Salem, Alabama passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 4-7pm (EST), on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Striffler-Hamby 3770 Al. Hwy.

431 N. Phenix City, AL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 2:00pm (EST), at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery via horse drawn carriage.

Joe F. Broadwater was born May 13, 1930 in Lee County, AL. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Lillie Ruth Sherman Broadwater. Also preceded by his parents Eulus and Daisy Broadwater, siblings Mary Sharpe, Rosa Williams, Helen Lockhart, Qumy Taylor, Cleo McCart, Kathrine Sherman and Ben Broadwater.

He is survived by his only caretaker, his loving daughter Rebecca B. Watkins and husband Seth of Georgetown, GA; loving granddaughters Melanie R. Guttormson and husband Jason of Salem, AL and Cynthia S. Garner and husband Eric of Salem, AL. great-grandsons Zach and Tyler Garner of Salem, AL Cody Garner USCG of Morehead City, NC; great-granddaughters Rebekah Ward and husband Russell, Rachel and Renae Guttormson of Salem, AL. ; great-great grandsons Cole, Collin and Cohen Ward of Salem, AL.

; son Douglas W. Broadwater and wife Ronda of Phenix City, AL. ; grandson Dr. Bo Broadwater and wife DaLin of Uppsala, Sweden; granddaughter Christi Funderburk and husband Brad of Seale, AL. ; great-grandchildren Johnny and Annie of Seale, AL; sisters Cora Kite and husband Neil and Nellie Gray of Phenix City, AL.

; special family Bobby and Evelyn Smith of Salem, AL and special friends Macy and Linda Adkins of Opelika, AL. , and a host of many other loving family members, and special dog Riley. Mr. Broadwater lived most of his life in Lee and Russell County.

Mr. Broadwater served his Country in the United States Army. He was a life time farmer as well as working 37 years at Swift Textiles before retiring. Mr. Broadwater was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Salem, AL.
