OBITUARY Joe Johnson August 28, 1942 – December 31, 2018 Joe Tolar Johnson, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Charlotte on Monday, December 31, 2018. Born August 28, 1942, he was the son of Joseph Johnson and Gretchen Tolar Johnson. Following graduation from Concord High School, Joe was a graduate of Pfeiffer University where he earned his B.A. in Political Science.

Joe had an accomplished 30-year career with Aetna Life & Casualty where he met many life-long friends. Joe was an active member of SouthPark United Methodist Church and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his retirement he enjoyed family, friends, sports and found a love for running.

He especially cherished traveling with his beloved wife. A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road. The family will receive friends following the service.

He is survived by Susan Cheek Johnson his wife of 36 years, his children; Jennifer Erin Johnson (Larry Hayes), Robert Dewitt Reynolds, III (Ginger Reynolds), his grandchildren; Witt and Smith Reynolds. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SouthPark United Methodist Church, PO Box 470943, Charlotte, NC 28247.
