OBITUARY Joe Wade Moore September 2, 1927 – November 13, 2018 Joe Wade Moore, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2018 after a long illness. He was born September 2, 1927 in Fluvanna, Texas. His parents were Frank and Ira May (Johnston) Moore.
The family moved to homestead a ranch in 1934. There he enjoyed hunting with his dog Patches and once he had a pet eagle. Then they moved to Springerville, Arizona where he could attend school and his family ran a café.
In 1942 the family moved back to Augusta, Texas. There he attended and graduated from Glover High School in 1945. In 1946 he served as a private in the Army Air Force in Marks Field, Nome, Alaska Territory.
In 1949 he married Joyce Cutler at Weches, Texas. In 1982 he retired from Western Electric after 35 years of service. After a few years of retirement he incorporated T-ATCo which did contract work for many years for Bell Telephone.
He was a member of First United Methodist of Houston. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn (Perry) Clark, brothers Jim (Hettie) Moore, Jack (Nell) Moore, Louis (Lahoma) Moore, F. J. (Sylva) Moore, Henry (Thelma) Moore, Byron Moore, Edwin (Izora) Moore, Carl Miller Moore, sister Pauline (Elvin) Puckett, sister-in-law Lillian (Charles) Nichols, brother-in-law Floyd (Willa) Cutler, and sister-in-law Faye Cutler. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Moore, daughter Marcella (Dale Snow), son Clayton (Diane), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother-in-law T. P. Cutler, sister-in-law Esteene Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your charity of choice. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2:30 pm to 8 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 13001 Katy Freeway in the city of Houston, Texas. Services will be held Saturday, December 1, at 1 pm at Liberty Hill Methodist Church at 594 CR 1597 near Augusta, Texas.
Burial is to follow at Augusta Cemetery.
