OBITUARY Johann Michael Jochnowitz March 11, 1937 – November 19, 2018 Professor Johann Michael Jochnowitz passed surrounded by his family. He is survived by his treasured wife of 62 years Carol Jochnowitz, children/spouses Abby Jochnowitz and Victor Hunt, Nina Jochnowitz, Cantor Gabrielle and John Clissold, along with grandchildren, Ben and Kim Hunt, Asher and Simon Clissold and Rami Jochnowitz. Jo, a graduate of NYU and Queens College was awarded a Full Bright and Ford Foundation Scholarship.

Jo was a revered professor of Fine Art at Kean University for 44 years. In addition to teaching, Jo enjoyed serving on the faculty senate and tenure committee. Jo taught sculpture at Bucks Rock Work Camp and additionally through his work at Kean inspired of hundreds of young people.

Jo was a master teacher and worked closely to nurture his colleagues on the faculty. His own paintings and drawings drew as much acclaim as his teaching. Of note, his drawings on the Holocaust were some of his most respected works.

He was one of the most unique and talented people you could ever meet and will missed by everyone who knew him. A funeral service will be Wednesday, November 21st, 2018, at Monmouth Reform Temple, Tinton Falls. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, are in charge of arrangements.
