Johanna Catherina Farley September 7, 1921 – December 25, 2018 With her family at her side, Johanna passed away and went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2018. Johanna, known as Joyce, was born on September 7, 1921 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She is survived by her children Carolyn, Patricia, James, Edward and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren (including 2 on the way).

In the Netherlands, Joyce was a proficient bookkeeper for a jeweler and lived through difficult conditions during WWII. Sponsored by her uncle and aunt, she came to America in 1950, following in her sister Cathy’s footsteps and settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She was employed by Eastman Distributing Company as a general office worker and met the love of her life, Norris Farley, at a social club for tall people. They wed and moved to California in 1956. Joyce lived out her Christian faith in a beautiful manner, fervently loving her husband, family, and friends with a sweet compassion, warm hospitality, and deep appreciation for life, joy and laughter.

She absolutely loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Oma”. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of their choir. Joyce enjoyed music, the beach, bike riding, road trips with Norris, playing cards, loving on everyone’s pets, and spending time with her family and friends.

Her love for God, family and friends was so amazing and she will be fondly missed. A viewing will be held at Miller Funeral Home in Folsom on January 2nd from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and a Funeral Mass celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish in El Dorado Hills on January 3rd at 11:00 am.
