Obituary for John Albert Boer John Albert Boer, 75, of Sevierville, TN (formerly of Springfield, OH) passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018. He was born in Grand Haven, MI on May 24, 1943. John attended Taylor University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served from 1965-1969 in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. John also worked for IBM and later Mercy Medical Center, where he retired after 28 years of service in Plant Operations. John was very versatile in working with his hands.

He could build it, he could fix it, and he could design it. John could repair anything. Both of his children had Batten’s disease and that opened his heart to other children.

John used his many talents to go above and beyond to create toys that made noise or talked to help children with visual impairments or disabilities. He had a passion for helping others. John attended Evans Chapel Church in Sevierville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Boer; daughter, Amy Michelle Boer; son, Michael Albert Boer; and a sister, Ruth Bohn. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Carpenter Boer; two sisters and a brother in law, Lois (Bruce) Hilborn and Marion Smallagan; a host of extended family members; and his friends at Evans Chapel Church. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Enon Cemetery, Enon, OH.
