Obituary for Mr. John Alfred Knutson John A. Knutson, age 70, of Coon Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Unity Hospital in Fridley. John was born in Brainerd, MN on May 22, 1948 to John F. and Betty I. (Bostwick) Knutson.

He grew up in Pine River with four sisters. He worked hard on the family farm. He loved fishing and hunting with relatives and friends.

John graduated from Pine River High School in 1966. He went on to Brainerd Community College and graduated from St. Cloud State University. He was a born salesman and loved meeting new people.

His career in sales started with The Farmer Magazine. Much of his career was spent traveling throughout Central MN selling janitorial equipment and supplies to hospitals, schools and nursing homes. In 1998, John married Susan Grover.

Together they traveled and collected different types of clocks. He enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and cooked a variety of cuisines. He especially liked to smoke ribs and have cookouts for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Sue; son, John D. Knutson (Cheryl); daughter Amy Nelson (Philip); stepdaughter Katie Hirdler (Lance) and stepson Eric Grover (Ashley); 5 grandchildren Elsa and Elias Nelson, Marissa Hirdler, Caleb and Emma Grover; and sisters Carole Carey, Muriel Miller, Peggy Rittmiller, and Juli Raeth (Lee). Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 11115 Hanson Blvd NW in Coon Rapids.
