John’s Obituary Col. John Arthur Gallagher, USAF, (Ret), 80, of Berryville, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in the Winchester Medical Center. Col.

Gallagher was born April 15, 1939 in Eugene, Oregon, son of the late John W. Gallagher and Ariel Caroline Olson Gallagher. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1962-1988. He later was a pilot for United Airlines for 10 years.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and the VFW having been a past Post Commander. He married Donna Mae Wieland Gallagher on June 24, 1961 in Spokane, Washington. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Kelly Sorensen and her husband, Jasper, of Winchester, VA; sons, Michael Gallagher of Naples, FL, Tim Gallagher of Chesterfield, VA and Sean Gallagher of Berryville, VA; brother, James Gallagher of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winchester, VA. Burial will be later in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Sunday evening at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, VA.
