OBITUARY John Carl Newman September 14, 1949 – October 27, 2018 John “Skipper” Newman, 69, of Charleston, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at MUSC. He was born September 14, 1949 in Charleston to Christine Benton Newman and the late Robert H. Newman Jr He was a US Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving 2 tours in Viet Nam.

He along with his father ran Newman’s Heating and Air for many years. John is survived by his mother, Christine Newman, a sister, Brenda Garvin, of Charleston, a brother, Terry Newman of Charleston, a daughter, Julie Jaques, of Ridgeville, a son, Ryan Newman, of Summerville, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Garvin, and a son, Shane Newman.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 prior to the service at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
