On Sunday, March 3rd, 2019, John Carlton Teel (Sparky) breathed his last breath on earth and went to be with our Lord. He was born February 7th, 1931 to John Preston Teel and Opal Garrison Teel in Alabama. They made their home in Laurel, MS in 1936.

He graduated from Sandersville High School in 1951 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served the Air Force faithfully for 23 ½ years. In that time, he was stationed all over the USA including Alaska and also in Japan and Germany.

His expertise was radar installation and electrician and instructor. When he retired, he found his niche as an electrician in offshore drilling and retired from there. His joy since retirement was his farm.

He took pride in his livestock and farming skills. He also enjoyed helping friends and neighbors in need. He was also a Master Mason of McLeod Lodge in Ocean Springs and the Shriners.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Preston Teel and Opal Garrison Teel; his son, Garry Dean Teel; his sisters, Sarah Ann Teel Allen and Era June Teel Thibuilt. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Laoma Joan Pierce Teel; his children, Shannon Rachel Teel, Carlton Duane Teel (Wendy) and James Darryl Teel; 4 grandchildren, Cameron Teel, Caitlyn Teel and Conner Teel and James Dean Brazel; his brother, Donald Dean Teel (Myrtle); his sisters, Carrene Teel Ulmer and Stella Faye Teel as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The pallbearers are Lane Brownlee, Johnny Carter, James Troy Harrison, Norman Hill, Tim Sanford and Lane Thomas.

The visitation will be Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at Memory Chapel (3100 Audubon Drive, Laurel, MS) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, March 8th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., also at Memory Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer or Dementia Foundations or the Heart Association.
