Our loving husband, father, and grandfather John Edwin Belliston, 84, passed away suddenly on May 22, 2019. Born July 28, 1934, in Nephi, Utah to Alva F. and Ethel Tuttle Belliston. Married Roxalene Ridd, December 19, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Survived by wife Roxalene, sons Brad, Alan (Renu), daughter LeAnne, grand-daughters Amber and Ashley. Preceded in death by daughter-in-law Barbara Degan Belliston, parents Alva and Ethel, brothers Melvin, Blaine, and Richard Belliston, sisters Mildred Belliston Sherwood, Bernice Belliston Boswell, and Norma Kay Belliston. Visitation will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Blvd (7600 South) Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. John grew up in Nephi, Utah.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Uruguayan Mission which at that time also served Paraguay and Peru. The last few months of his mission he was assigned to Lima, Peru as one of the first missionaries serving the Peruvian people. He graduated from the University of Utah and Westminster College.

John worked for over 30 years for Spilker Insurance Agency retiring at age 84. John and Roxalene enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He was loved by his children including his daughter-in-law Renu whom he considered his daughter.

He loved visiting with his grand-daughters Amber and Ashley. If the three of them were in the room together, you could count on there being laughter. During each visit at some point you would find Amber and Ashley clamoring to John while he sat in his chair rubbing the top of his buzz cut head laughing and saying “soft, Grandpa your head is so soft”.

He would give them the biggest smile, letting them tease him as long as they wanted. He enjoyed his weekly lunches with his buddy Wayne. As John and Roxalene’s health started to decline and they needed some assistance they were blessed to have Yuko Shimba come into their life.

John would often say she was a God send. She has been so kind and loving to him and Roxalene. John will be missed more than words can express by his family and friends.

We are glad when it was his time to leave us that he left quickly and did not suffer. We are sure there was a warm greeting in heaven by all, but especially by his mother and little sister Norma who were killed in a tragic car accident when John was only 13 years old.
