OBITUARY John Erving REED December 30, 1930 – July 10, 2018 John Reed was one of a kind. Born right after the Great Depression, he was always mindful of waste and never throwing away something that still could be used. He had that tough New England manner but once you got to know him, his sense of humor was the best.

He and his beloved wife Ruthie came to San Diego in 1968. Very soon after moving, he got a job with Rohr industries where he worked for 25 years. He retired in 1993 and enjoyed golf, Las Vegas and friends.

After his wife’s passing in 1997, he joined the senior volunteer patrol in Bonita and logged in over 7,000 hours! John is survived by family back in Massachusetts, where he will be laid to rest.
