John Francis Magasano Age 94 ½ , of Garden City Monroeville PA, passed away peacefully in his home amongst loving family on February 26, 2019 after a long bout with Parkinson’s. John was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 11, 1924 to the late Francis Magasano and Lucrezia LoRusso from Calabria Italy. John is survived by his wife of 45 years Joan (Pitacciato Mancuso) Magasano, his 4 daughters , Cathy (Terry) Luffy of VA, Carrie (Glenn) Mull of Penn Township, Christina (BJ) Reaves of VA, and Cindi Hutchison of Export, his stepdaughters and stepson Rene Mancuso of Monroeville, Nanette (sherry Young) Mancuso of Monroeville, Ronny(Sheri )Mancuso of Plum and Joannie (Coy) Jenkins of Southside, and his 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, his sister in law Lucille (Carmen) Rago, and brother in law Louis (Terry) Pitacciato .

John also leaves behind many other family members which include his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his 2 sisters and 3 brothers. John served as a veteran of WW2 and worked for the postal service as a mailman in Lawrenceville, PA .

John alleges he packed parachutes for the airforce and he never had anyone complain. � John never met a stranger and loved to tell you every direction he knew including the best way to get anywhere in PA by way of New Kensington. John was a family man and everything was always “copacetic” with him.

He would say don’t you worry, you let Januworry and Februworry but don’t you worry. John was lovingly named “Fig” or the “Figster” by his daughter Joanie who along with her friend now sister Carrie together introduced her mother Joanne and father John to each other while setting them up on a blind date some 46 years ago. It was destino .

John was adored by his entire family one and the same as he loved them all. His greatest joy was sitting around visiting and catching up with people. John was an amazing man who will be lovingly missed.

His family’s hearts will be forever with him. The family has chosen to have a private service. John always said if you asked him that he was always ok and now we know that he is truly Okay.
