John Forlenza, a few days short of his 88th birthday, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. A native Staten Islander, John attended McKee High School and later joined the Marine Corp from 1948 to 1950. He proudly served his country as a tanker and jeep driver in the US ARMY as a Corporal during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 and was Honorably Discharged 1959.

He retired after 30 years from the NYC Department of Highways. Family was everything to John . He loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was beach vacations, Sunday dinners, to reading the comics with them.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years Colomba DiNiro; two daughters: JoAnne Sangiovanni, husband Vincent and Lisa Basile, husband Louis . Four grandchildren John and his wife Annalisa, Stefani, Michael and Zachary and two great grandchildren Vienna and Aria. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember John during visitation hours on Saturday, March 2 from 4-7 PM and Sunday, March 3 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Thomas the Apostle Church on Monday, March 4, beginning at 11AM with interment to follow with military honors at the Brig. Gen. William C Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
