Obituary for John H. Frymoyer Print John H. Frymoyer, 88, died peacefully on January 23, 2019 as a patient at the Reading Hospital with family by his side. Born in Reading, he was the youngest son of the late Ralph S. and Florence (Haag) Frymoyer. John graduated from Shillington High School in 1948.

He attended Albright College as a business administrative major and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He was a member of the Pi Tau Beta fraternity. John was a veteran who served for two years in the Navy during the Korean War.

John worked for the New York Life Insurance Company; then began his 37 year career employed by Great Valley Savings Bank (later merging with Fulton Bank). John retired as an Executive Vice President and Director of the bank. John met his wife Doris on a blind date when he was 23 years old.

Two years later, on May 12, 1956, they were married at Calvary United Church of Christ in Reading. John was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, where he served on the consistory and was an usher. John was also an active member of the Shillington Rotary Club and was a past president and board member.

When he retired, he volunteered at the Senior Center in Reading. John was athletic and enjoyed playing sports throughout his life. In high school he played football, basketball, and baseball.

In college he spent most of his spare time playing basketball on a team outside of school and participated in intramural sports for his fraternity. John became an avid tennis player and golfer and enjoyed playing these sports both in Pennsylvania and in Florida. John and Doris became snowbirds who enjoyed their annual trips to Florida.

John traveled extensively during retirement with Doris, and they were both members of the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz. John loved to spend time with his grandchildren whenever possible. He and Doris treated the grandchildren to visit them in Florida every year, and he also enjoyed the yearly trips to the family’s favorite beach destination, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

John is survived by his daughter Janet Price (Frymoyer) and her husband Dwight of Doylestown, PA, and his youngest son Mark Frymoyer and his partner Lucy Roberts, of West Lawn, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, and Emily Price. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, his first born son Glenn E. Frymoyer, and his two older brothers Ralph and Gene.

John spent the later part of his life living at Columbia Cottage in Wyomissing, along with his wife Doris, who recently passed away in November, 2018. Both John and Doris were blessed to live at the Cottage, where the staff cared for and loved them both. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave.

, West Reading, PA. Friends and family may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Burial will be private at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
