John H. Moore, 82 of North Syracuse, passed away February 3, 2019 after a long illness. He is survived by his son John and his wife Katalin of Syracuse, his grandsons Geoff and Peter, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Maureen.

He was born in Croghan, NY, to Joseph and Ethel Moore on April 22, 1936. He grew up in nearby Beaver Falls, NY, where he attended high school. He graduated from SUNY ESF’s wood products and engineering program in 1958.

He served in the US Army between 1958 and 1962. After military service, John worked at manufacturing companies in the Syracuse area including Crouse-Hinds, Rockwell International and Nixon Gear. After retirement, John became an avid birder, conducting fieldwork for the second New York State Breeding Bird Atlas and participating in numerous Audubon Christmas bird counts and birdathons.

A service was held at the Sears Middleton Mathewson funeral home in North Syracuse. Burial with Military Honors was in North Syracuse Cemetery.
