John’s Obituary On Saturday, March 2nd, 2019, John J. Gelhaus – loved father and youngest son – passed away at the age of 52. John was born on March 23rd, 1966 to Frederick L. Gelhaus Sr. and Dorothy C. Gelhaus (Brady). John was a Veteran of the Army National Guard and a graduate of the Baltimore Police Department with the Class of June 1988.

In February 1989, he married Jean M. Gelhaus (Slater); and had two children – Wendy M. Gelhaus in September 1989 and John B. Gelhaus in December 1999. John battled with alcoholism and drug addiction for the better part of his life; which, ultimately, took his life in the form of a heroin overdose. John was survived by his parents – Frederick and Dorothy, older siblings – Frederick L. Gelhaus Jr. And Mary T. Friedel (Gelhaus), Ex-wife – Jean, Children – Wendy and John, Granddaughter – Braelynn H. Davis, and multiple nieces and nephews.
