John “Jack” Allen Worden, 76, of Wellsboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Transitional Healthcare Autumn Grove in Harrisville, PA. He was the husband of Agnes J. (Tokarz) Worden and they shared 51 years of marriage together. He was born January 27, 1942, in Elgin, IL, the son of the late John H. and Alice M. (Tracy) Worden.

Jack was an electrician by trade, but took great pride in being a local referee and umpire for over 30 years. He officiated games for high school baseball and football, small fry football and little league baseball and softball. Jack was an athlete himself, having been a district wrestling champion and lineman of the year when he played football.

He was also a veteran in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion (Hall of Fame Inductee). He was also inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame and received the Neal Mosher Award for enhancing area youth.

Jack was an avid bowler and bowled multiple 300 games. His greatest passion was spending time with his family as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Agnes; son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Katrina Worden of Wellsboro; grandchildren, Olivia and Violet; brother and sister-in-law, James and Sandra Worden of Wellsboro; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death his sisters, Jane Lewis and Joyce Worden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 47 Central Ave. , Wellsboro, PA 16901.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 9-11 a.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the next Friday, November 9, 9:30 a.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 38 Central Ave. , Wellsboro.

Rev. David Bechtel will officiate services and burial will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery with full military honors.
