OBITUARY John “Jack” Henry Landefeld December 31, 1939 – December 13, 2018 It is with great sadness to share the passing of John Henry “Jack” Landefeld on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Jack was born in Rochester, PA on December 31, 1939, to George H and Eleanor W Landefeld. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jack loved being surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Janet Ward Landefeld, to whom he was happily married to for 32 years. He is also survived by his Uncle Richard ‘Dick’ Stephens; mother and father-in-law, Miles and Willie Ray Ward; brothers-in-law Harry Ward(Nita), Ray Ward(Connie); sister-in-law Lisa Burns (Tim); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He loved his sons Dale Landefeld, Dwayne Landefeld (Cecelia), Danny Landefeld, and Jeremy Humphries (Michelle) and was so proud of all of them. He was Papa Jack to his beautiful grandchildren, Kayla, Adam, Madison, Matthew, Lexi and Lance and his great-granddaughter Jaelynn . Jack proudly served as a Missile Guidance Instructor for four years in the United States Air Force in Orlando, FL.

After his military duty, he began his career in sales, working for Southern Bell as a Yellow Page salesman. He advanced and continued this career at different levels and locations until he retired in 1994. Jack later returned to trade school to pursued a second career in the field of air-conditioning and refrigeration.

He became a business partner with A-Advantage Air. Jack loved cars, and owned many different ones over his lifetime. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.

He was happiest when he was sharing a meal (especially one that included a dessert) with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching college football with his sons, friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed doing woodwork.

One of his favorite pastimes was connecting or reconnecting with friends and family on social media, with his two fur babies, Brio and Lil Man by his side. Family and friends may pay their respects at the graveside service at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:45 in the afternoon. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Room behind the Heart of Dixie Harley Davidson Dealership at 333 Cahaba Valley Parkway, Pelham, AL at 5:00 PM.
