Obituary for John James Russ John James Russ, age 93, of Eastlake, passed away on August 2, 2018. He was born in Cleveland, on Decem-ber 4, 1924, to the late John and Mar-garet Russ. John is survived by his loving daughter, Karen Scheel; he was the proud grand-father of Stephanie (Patrick), Christian (Alicia), Ryan (Kelley), Kathryn, and Taylor (John); he cherished his great-grandchildren, Billy, Max, Chloe, Jake, Stephen, Jack, Johnny, and Sophie; and also special family members, Rob-ert (Joan) Phillips, Sharon, Sandy, and the late Russell Hlabse.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathryn Russ; his son-in-law, Stephen Scheel; and his sib-lings, Mary and John. John was a proud WWII US Army Veteran. He was a 4th degree Knight with Knights of Columbus, a past Post Com-mander of VFW Post 1500, and longtime member of Holy Name Society.

He was also one of the founding parishioners of St. Justin Martyr Parish. John always enjoyed the simple things in life, like crossword puzzle jumbles, taking drives and day trips with family, and eating good Slovenian food. He is going to be greatly missed by all who knew him.

“The most extraordinary thing in the world is an ordinary man and an ordinary woman and their ordinary children”. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd. , Eastlake.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at St. Justin Martyr Church, 35781 Stevens Blvd. , Eastlake. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
