Obituary for JOHN “JOHNNY” S. SAYERS John “Johnny” S. Sayers, Sr. of Bessemer, AL was born on September 7, 1935, and went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2018. (age 83). He retired from the United Mine Workers with twenty two years of service.

He was a Korean Veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Milton H. Fies No. 722, and of Birmingport Baptist Church.

Johnny loved watching Alabama football, fishing, and hunting, all of which he loved more when doing it with his family. He liked singing hymns and swinging in the yard with his grandkids. He was a kind, spiritual man, who loved serving the Lord and others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Sayers, Sr. and Verla G. Sayers, his sisters, Bobbie R. Vance and Lois Ann Sayers, and his brother, James E. Sayers, Jr. Johnny is survived by his wife of 62 years, C. “Net” Arneta Sayers, his children, John “Sam” S. Sayers Jr., Timothy “Tim” A, Sayers, (Becky) and Donna ”Hodie” Ann Eaton, (David), his grandchildren, John “Mac” S. Sayers III, Crystal S. Hamilton, Timothy “TJ” A. Sayers, Jr., Joseph “Brent” B. Sayers, Casey N. Eaton, and Joshua A. Eaton, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. The visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Birmingport Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.

The burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of JOHN “JOHNNY” S. SAYERS please visit our Sympathy Store.
